Weight: 24 July 1966 (Debut: 19y 17d, last game: 36y 46d)

Originally from East Doncaster he was a hard working and consistent footballer who received little kudos outside North Melbourne, but was a fine footballer who always gave his all.

After crossing from Fitzroy in 1993 he hardly missed a game for the Roos and was used in a wide range of positions from ruck-roving to the flanks, but especially as a stopper.

Adaptable and totally professional he typified coach Denis Pagan's ideals, and was a member of the 1996 and 1999 premiership sides.

Blakey received the ultimate honour when named in the North Melbourne Team of the Century.

He had his best season in 2000, when he averaged 18 possessions a game and polled eight Brownlow Medal votes in a year which saw North Melbourne make the Preliminary Final.
