Ask Leigh a question on All Access A former Victoria Metro captain at under 18 level, Adams was surprise not to be selected in the 2006 National Draft. However, he was given an opportunity at North Melbourne as a rookie. After some outstanding form for Tasmania in the VFL, he was promoted to the senior list just four rounds into the 2007 season. Adams subsequently made his debut in round five of that year and played one further match for the Kangaroos before returning to Tasmania. He went on to win a best and fairest award, despite playing just 13 games. The promising youngster was awarded a spot on the North Melbourne senior list for 2008, but a devestating injury in which he tore his anterior cruciate ligament off the bone saw the in and under midfielder sidelined for the rest of the year. After several months of rehabilitation, Adams joined his Kangaroos team-mates for the 2009 pre-season and despite some knee soreness in the early parts of the season was quick to regain form in the VFL. In Round 15 he was recalled for his third career game, two years after his debut. Adams went on to play a pivotal role in the Roos' midfield as they finished the season on a high with wins against St Kilda and Port Adelaide. He averaged 17 possessions in his six matches. Darren Crocker 2009 review: With Patch it was always going to be about getting his body right and getting a bit of continuity. When he was able to do that, his form in the VFL was strong enough that he actually came in, got an opportunity and we were really pleased with how he went. In the times we actually put him in the midfield, he was able to have an impact. It was an important year for him.Draft history: 2007 rookie elevation (North Melbourne)First game for North Melbourne: Round 5, 2007 v GeelongPlayer Sponsors: David Edmonds
