North Melbourne’s first round selection at the 2000 National Draft, Harris had big expectations on his shoulders to become the club’s midfield general. After some inconsistency early in his career, Harris became one of North Melbourne’s most valuable midfielders, averaging around 20 possessions a game. 2008 was a strong year for Harris, the in and under midfielder excelling at the stoppages and racking up 109 tackles. He struggled towards the end of the season though; prompting talk of a trade but North Melbourne retained him for the 2009 season in which he played 10 games.Darren Crocker 2009 review: He was overtaken by Andrew Swallow and we were trying to get a different balance through the midfield.
