Ask Corey a question on All Access Picked up with North Melbourne’s fourth round selection (pick 60) in the 2000 National Draft, Jones has established himself as a regular goal-kicker for his team since debuting in round 4 of 2001. A medium sized forward, Jones has great skills and is a great mark on the lead, while also having a great natural ability to kick goals on the run and from an angle. He had his best year in 2007 booting 46 goals, and has tallied over 20 goals a season for the last six years but has been criticised over his consistency. Jones was under pressure in 2008 to retain his spot in the North Melbourne side and despite a niggling foot injury, he managed 33 goals for the year. Trade speculation surrounded Jones at the beginning of 2009 and a disappointing start to the year saw him feature in just one of the first 11 matches. However Darren Crocker’s appointment as caretaker coach provided him with a clean slate and was the catalyst behind a return to the senior side. The number 21 played nine matches in a row before partaking in the Roosters’ finals campaign. Darren Crocker 2009 review:He obviously struggled in the first half of the year. When I came in as coach I basically wiped the slate clean and gave everyone an opportunity. Jonesy was one who took his, played some reasonable games and in a couple of them was our most productive forward. You never question his effort. He was probably a little bit inconsistent, especially towards the end of the year. He found himself go out of the side, but he didn't do his future any harm.
