Hamish McIntosh on Facebook

A former first round draft pick, McIntosh is a man mountain at 203cm and 107kg.

The 24 year old was drafted as a long term prospect and made his debut in 2005.

McIntosh was one of North Melbourne’s best players in its 2007 campaign, assuming the role of number one ruckmen with David Hale becoming a permanent forward. He averaged almost 20 hit-outs a game and was named in the Australian squad.

After a strong start to the 2008 season, McIntosh was struck down by a serious knee injury in North Melbourne’s Round 12 clash against Fremantle and didn’t return until Round 21.

He struggled in his comeback and wasn’t included in the Elimination Final team to play against Sydney, prompting talks of a possible trade at the end of the season.

The trade didn't eventuate, and McIntosh had plenty of pressure on him to perform in 2009. He responded brilliantly, opening the season with 21 possessions and three goals against Melbourne and was consistently in the best. He finished third in the league for hit-outs, and paired with Todd Goldstein to provide a lethal ruck combination towards the end of the year.

Many considered him unlucky not to be included in the All-Australian side after he was named in an initial squad.

Darren Crocker 2009 review:
He got back to some of his best form of a couple of years ago. The key to Hamish is getting good pre-seasons under his belt. Last year he didn't have a great one and he just stumbled and bumbled for the year and hurt his knee. He got back to where we need him to be playing for us to be any hope of being a good developing team again. He needs to build up his strength; he gets around the ground alright but at times he gets pushed out of the way a bit too easily.
