North Melbourne’s first pick in the 2005 Draft, Riggio has taken time to develop but looks ready to perform in 2009. The wingman/half forward has great endurance and has the ability to break the lines with his pace. After debuting in 2007 and playing two games, Riggio improved on that tally in 2008 playing seven straight games between rounds 8 and 14. Riggio was also a solid contributor at VFL level and the 20-year-old played 15 games for the Werribee Tigers helping them to the Preliminary Final. His work, with the likes of Andrew Swallow and Ben Ross through the midfield proved a dangerous combination for opposition teams. 2009 was a disappointing year for Riggio. Despite some solid form at VFL level in the early part of the season, he broke through for just one senior game and even found himself in the VFL reserves in the middle part of the season.
