Edwards noticeably lifted his work rate in 2011 and often drew his opponent up the ground to create space for Drew Petrie. His fifth season at North was his best as he notched career highs for games (19) and goals (36) and led the AFL in goalkicking accuracy (36.8 at an 81.8 per cent conversion rate).

Things looked bleak when he was dropped after North lost its first three games of the season, but he fought his way back and earned a recall in round eight, when he kicked a personal-best six goals against Melbourne.
