North Melbourne secured North Ballarat defender Cameron Richardson during the 2010 AFL Draft Week, with the club sending its round-two NAB AFL Draft pick 35 to Gold Coast in exchange for the promising half-back flanker.

Richardson has VFL premiership experience, elite endurance and highly rated ability to run and carry out of defence.

He played nine games for the Kangaroos in 2011 but struggled to cement a spot with niggling injuries holding him back. After undergoing hip surgery at the end of the season, Richardson will be keen to get his body right and secure his place in 2012.

Draft history: Traded as pre-listed player by Gold Coast Suns in exchange for second round selection (no.35) at the 2010 National Draft.
