After being selected with pick two in the 2002 National Draft, Wells came to North full of talent and potential.

With an enormous amount of flair and skill, he has slowly developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous midfielders in the country.

2011 was a standout year for Wells who had arguably the best season of his career and topped it off with a Syd Barker medal equal with Andrew Swallow.

Despite his on-field success, 2011 didn’t end the way he would have hoped when things took a turn for the worst after the 26 year old experienced chest pain, lower back pain and shortness of breath after routine post-season shoulder surgery.

Despite the setback Wells is making a strong recovery and will resume full contact training once he goes off blood-thinning medication in early 2012.

Draft history: 2002 National AFL Draft 1st round selection (North Melbourne) No. 2 overall on-traded by Richmond to Adelaide for Wayne Carey.
First game for North Melbourne: Round 1, 2003 v St Kilda
NMFC Cap: 902
Player honours: 2nd best and fairest 2006 (equal), International Rules Series 2003, 2008; NAB AFL Rising Star nominee 2003.
