Ziebell was North Melbourne’s first round draft selection at the 2008 National Draft, after surprisingly slipping through to pick nine.

A 188cm midfielder, he has excellent skills by foot and is tough in the contest. He has strong leadership skills, and is expected to be a future leader of the North Melbourne Football Club.

Hailing from the Murray Bushrangers, Ziebell was prolific in his team’s TAC Cup premiership and also represented Victoria Country at the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships and gained All-Australian honours.

2011 was the standout year Ziebell had worked towards after his first two seasons were interrupted with two broken legs, one in 2009 and the other in 2010.

After a quiet start to 2011, Ziebell began to find exceptional form in the latter part of the year with his career best match against the Bulldogs in round 17 where he racked up a record 41 disposals.
