Looked to be cementing a senior spot when he played six consecutive games from rounds six to 11, but he suffered a broken cheekbone against Adelaide in round 11 that sidelined him for four weeks, and played just another three games for the season.

Macmillan’s composure and sure ball use would make him an ideal replacement for the retired Brady Rawlings in defence. He is also seen as a future leader, having been recognised for his off-field work with the club’s 2011 community award.
