Ask Scott a question on All Access After playing a key role in Geelong’s VFL premiership side in 2007, Thompson was picked up with North Melbourne’s 3rd selection in the 2007 National Draft. At 190cm, Thompson can play on tall forwards but also has the pace to match it with much smaller players, making him a versatile option in defence. Thompson played six games for the Kangaroos in 2008, and was a solid performer in all matches playing on bigger and more experienced opponents. He was also a great asset to the Werribee Tigers defence as they made it to the Preliminary Final. He played 17 games and finished runner-up in the club’s best and fairest award. Thompson will be looking to secure a spot in the North Melbourne defence in 2009. Darren Crocker 2009 review:There's no doubt he's our most improved player. On the back of a really good pre-season, he went away and worked on the aspects of his game he needed to. He got stronger and more powerful, he worked on his kicking and has grown in confidence being able to play on some pretty important forwards for the opposition. On most occasions he was able to get the job done. He was a real revelation this year, a real find for the footy club.
