With just over a month until the best of Australia's young talent learn their fate at the 2009 National Draft, kangaroos.com.au is keeping North Melbourne supporters up to date with all the latest news surrounding one of the most important days on the AFL calendar.

North Melbourne have six picks in the first four rounds and will be looking to continue their draft successes of 2008, which netted Jack Ziebell, Sam Wright and Liam Anthony.

Today we look back at the history of North Melbourne's final selection in the draft, pick 53. While the pick proved unsuccessful in the early years of the draft, in recent times clubs have been able to pinch the likes of Michael Braun, Adam Selwood, Daniel Jackson and North Melbourne's own Lindsay Thomas in the fourth round.
