7.00pm - The action is about to begin at Eureka Stadium. Guest commentator Michael Firrito will be with us soon.

7.06pm - The game is underway with the first bounce at Eureka Stadium. A big crowd is on hand to see the boys in action.

Ben Ross has put through the opening goal of the game after a chain of handballs through the middle that started with Jack Ziebell.

7.08pm - Ben Warren throws himself into the pack and is rewarded with a free kick. A kick from 50m sails through the middle.

7.10pm - The players are throwing themselves into the packs and the action is very willing. Levi Greenwood has won several free kicks already with his hardness at the ball.

7.11pm - Conor Meredith bursts through the pack for the blue team, a shot from 40m through for a behind. From the kick-out the white team pushed it through the middle quickly, Matt Campbell's snap at goal resulting in a Drew Petrie mark in the square. Petrie helps the white team to a 17 point lead.

White: 3.0.18   Blue: 0.1.1

7.15pm - Ed Lower has been one of the best early for the blue team with some important touches. Matt Campbell dangerous for the white team with several possessions around half-forward.

7.18pm - Jack Ziebell's been fantastic for the white team so far, just took a great mark over Ed Lower. Sam Wright has also gathered plenty of the ball. Lachie Hansen mark up forward and kicks the first goal for the blue team, then swaps teams with Sam Wright. The coaches are looking to even up the early dominance of the white team.

White: 3.0.18 Blue 1.1.7

7.21pm - A great chain of play through the midfield from the white team. The future of North Melbourne is on show as Delaney handballs to Ryan Bastinac, the youngster hits up Jack Ziebell who delivers onto the chest of Drew Petrie. Leigh Harding ends up with the footy, but misses from outside 50.

White 3.1.19 Blue 1.1.7

7.23pm - The half-time siren has sounded and the boys have gone into the rooms for a rest.

Best players so far: Jack Ziebell, Drew Petrie, Ed Lower, Ben Warren, Cruize Garlett and Matt Campbell.

Michael Firrito has joined us in the commentary box at Eureka Stadium.

7.41pm -
Michael Firrito: G'day Roo fans. Pretty impressive. The boys will probably be a bit tired in the second half as it's our first real hit-out. Hopefully we can keep our skill level up and try to execute what we've been practicing.

7.42pm - The boys are back out onto the ground and the crowd waiting in readiness for the second half.

7.44pm - Robbie Tarrant is playing down back at the moment in an interesting move from Brad Scott. Great mark from Scott McMahon in defence over Ben Warren. Warren came off worse for wear but quickly back on his feet.

White 3.1.19 Blue 1.2.8

Michael Firrito: Falling down across half forward at the moment for the blue team but some slick work from defence. It's going to be hard to get back in that defence with Robbie Tarrant back there as well now.

7.48pm - Michael Firrito: Big H takes a pearler, one hander. I’ll be hearing about that at home. He’ll be talking about it for a week.

7.49pm - McIntosh misses the goal from outside 50.

White 3.2.20 Blue 1.2.8

7.49pm - Michael Firrito: Lachie Hansen has been standing down back. Keeps repelling attacks. Cruize Garlett's been racking up the pill also and Ed Lower has been very good in close.

7.50pm - Matt Campbell continuing to be dangerous up forward. Great run from half-forward with three bounces and a clever kick.

7.51pm - Boomer snap at goal, off hands and Ben Warren crumbs the goal for the white team.

White 4.2.26 Blue 1.2.8

7.53pm - Michael Firrito: Great crunching tackle from Marcus White on Corey Jones. Good grab from Brayden 'Chuck' Norris. The boy is pretty lightly framed but he's a very quick learner and looks pretty impressive for a young bloke.

7.55pm - Delaney crunches Conor Meredith coming back with the flight of the ball.

7.57pm -
Michael Firrito: Scott McMahon’s been pretty good down back. He got thrown around a bit last year, but he’ll settle down back this year. He’s got beautiful skills.

7.58pm - Brayden Norris marks inside 50 and kicks his first goal.

White 4.2.26 Blue 2.2.14

7.59pm - Matt Scott receives the ball through the centre and hits a target on the lead. Promising signs from the Eastern Ranges boy.

8.01pm - Michael Firrito: Leigh Harding is having a good pre-season. I think he might be more looking for more time in the midfield this year and push forward a bit.

8.02pm - Brent Harvey streams through the middle with three bounces. Brady Rawlings kick intercepted by Cruize Garlett who continues to rack up possessions all over the ground.

8.03pm - Michael Firrito: Ryan Bastinac's workrate is fantastic. He's been able to work deep into defence and still run the ball out.
He's been pretty impressive on the training track. He's only been here a short time but is gaining the respect of the older blokes already.

8.05pm - There's 16 minutes gone in the second half and the white team holds a 12 point lead at this stage. There's some tired legs out there with the boys' playing in their first hit-out since August.

Brayden Norris impresses with a run through the midfield. Took on three players on the wing, pumped it inside 50 and Corey Jones took a strong mark, handballed off to Ben Speight who kicked truly.

White 4.2.26 Blue 3.2.20

8.08pm -
The siren has sounded and the white team salutes by six points.

8.09pm - Michael Firrito: The boys got a little bit tired towards the end. The ball movement was good and the skills continued to improve in the second half. Best players in my opinion were Cruize Garlett, Brent Harvey, Robbie Tarrant down back, young Brayden Norris and rookie Marcus White. Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoyed reading the blog. Go Roos!

8.10pm - North Melbourne forward Lindsay Thomas has been watching the action from the stands and tells us his thoughts on the game.

8.10pm - Lindsay Thomas: Best players were Cruize Garlett who was pretty clean around the stoppages and had a good workrate, Robbie Tarrant down back and Marcus White, who repelled everything out of defence. Matty Campbell was exciting up forward as usual. It was a good first up hit-out for the boys. Thanks for reading our blog tonight.

8.19pm - Thanks for viewing our coverage of tonight's game. We'll be providing more updates in the next couple of days at the club's Community Camp in Ballarat.
