WA Supporters Group Golf Day
North Melbourne's Western Australia Supporters Group is holding a golf day for fans and past players on Friday, March 26.
Teams of four will tee off from 1pm with each group containing a former Kangaroo.
After hitting the course, you'll have the chance to relax and dine with fellow North supporters as you feast on a sensational buffet dinner.
There'll be plenty of prizes up for grabs and at just $85 per person it's an event not to be missed.
For more information contact Scott Coghlan on 0414 685 169 or
scottywiper@arach.net.au
The North Melbourne Football Club has always enjoyed exceptionally strong ties with Western Australia and these bonds continue in 2010.
Look through the team of the century and local names like Ross Glendinning and Barry Cable leap off the page.
And they are just the tip of the Kangaroos iceberg when it comes to the links with WA – not forgetting our coach Dean Laidley, and of course even our chairman James Brayshaw is a Perth boy.
This year, there are a swag of WA players continuing that fine tradition – with WA products Daniel Wells, Andrew Swallow, Liam Anthony, Warren Benjamin, Matt Riggio, Josh Smith and Cruize Garlett all on the list.
As a result of these links to the West, North Melbourne has always enjoyed incredible support from WA footy fans and the WA Supporters Club is a product of that.
The WA Supporters Club is free to join, simply contact Scott Coghlan at
scottywiper@arach.net.au
and ask to be placed on his email list.
Scott sends out regular email updates with details on upcoming functions, fundraisers, raffles, auctions, etc.
Each week, supporters gather at the Floreat Athena Soccer Club, in Mt Hawthorn, to watch games live on the big screen, with the bar normally open, occasional special guests, and a great atmosphere ensured.
Last season, we ran a very successful coaching clinic for kids, despite some of the worst weather of the year!
The Supporters Club is also the authorised seller of official North Melbourne Football Club number plates and these can be arranged through Scott.
Funds raised from by the Supporters Club are returned to the NMFC through a variety of means, including an annual player sponsorship, with Liam Anthony our player in 2009, following on from Matt Riggio and Andrew Swallow in previous years.
Scott and David Moon also run a weekly radio show on 91.3 Sport FM called Kangas Corner dedicated to the club, and this will be available to download from the club website at
www.kangaroos.com.au
this season.
Stay tuned for exact details on when the show will go to air locally, as that is still being finalised.
This year, we are looking to build numbers in the Supporters Club, so if you want to know everything that’s happening in WA for Roos supporters, contact the WA Supporters Club.
The contact for the group is Scott Coghlan and he can be contacted on – 0414 685 169 or
scottywiper@arach.net.au
